He was requesting an evacuation by CH-53E Super Stallion as part of a tactical recovery of aircraft and personnel training event. Mancillas, an Indio, California, native, is a radio operator with Weapons Company, 1st Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment, currently assigned to 4th Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division, III Marine Expeditionary Force, under the unit deployment program.
