Lt. Col. Kyle Reed (left), a Reidsville, N.C., native, and commander, Task Force Saber, congratulates Staff Sgt. Tod W. Barclay (right), a Butler, Minn., native, and cavalry scout attached to Troop C, 1st Squadron, 91st Cavalry Regiment, 173rd Airborne Brigade for completing the second annual Admiral Pitka Recon Challenge Aug. 9 at Rakvere, Estonia. Barclay and three other Soldiers from Troop C’s sniper team participated in this competition that tested the strength, speed, endurance, intelligence and willpower of 26 teams from six countries through a series of obstacles and simulations spread along an 81-mile route through Estonia’s countryside. Paratroopers with the 173rd Abn. Bde. are deployed for training in Estonia as part of Operation Atlantic Resolve, an exercise dedicated to demonstrating commitment to NATO obligations and sustaining interoperability with allied forces.
