Line handlers, assigned to the guided-missile destroyer USS Gonzalez (DDG 66), assist in mooring the littoral combat ship USS Freedom (LCS 1) to the pier at Naval Station Norfolk. Freedom arrived in Norfolk after its Nov. 8, commissioning in Milwaukee and a 5-week transit through the Great Lakes, Eastern Canada, and the northeast coast of the United States. Freedom is the first littoral combat ship produced by Lockheed Martin and will be based in Norfolk undergoing post-delivery tests and sea trials before transiting to its final homeport of San Diego.
