USS Denver's arrival at Pearl Harbor

The amphibious transport dock ship USS Denver (LPD 9) prepares to moor at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam (JBPHH). USS Denver is the third U.S. Navy ship to bear the name of American pioneer James William Denver and the capital of the state of Colorado. Throughout its history, USS Denver played a significant role in several operations, most notably Operation Frequent Wind, the evacuation of Saigon, Vietnam, in April 1975. USS Denver is scheduled to be decommissioned Aug. 14, 2014, at JBPHH after 46 years of service. (U.S. Navy photo by Mass Communication Specialist 3rd Class Johans Chavarro/Released)
