Sgt. Morgan Mitchell, a cavalry scout from South Jordan, Utah, assigned to Troop C, 7th Squadron, 10th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, Multi-National Division - Baghdad, checks identification cards and proof of employment for Iraqi residents of the Abu T'shir community in the Rashid District of southern Baghdad on Jan. 31. Mitchell and the Soldiers of "Comanche" Troop doubled security patrols during Iraq's provincial elections to assist Iraqi security forces maintain security during the milestone event. Coalition forces worked on behalf of their ISF counterparts to enforce Iraq's Ministry of Interior ban on vehicle movement in Baghdad until the completion of the provincial elections later that day. The election was Iraq's third democratic election since the beginning of Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2003.
