Marines and sailors lace detonation cord through ready-made holes in dynamite July 23 at Susungri Range, Pohang, Republic of Korea, as part of Korean Marine Exchange Program 14-12. During demolitions training, ROK and U.S. Marines followed all safety procedures while testing fuses and handling explosives. KMEP is a regularly scheduled bilateral training exercise between the ROK and U.S. Marine Corps forces held in accordance with the ROK-U.S. Mutual Defense Treaty, which was signed by the two nations in 1953.
