These 3-D engineer castles were made in the woodshop on Kandahar Airfield, Afghanistan, during the month of July by Spc. Bevante Carlisle, a carpenter from Franklin, Ind., who serves with the 1413th Engineer Company, Indiana National Guard. The castle has been a symbol of the engineers since 1840, and was officially adopted in 1902. (U.S. Army photo by Spc. Ariel J. Solomon)
