An F/A 18 aircraft approaches Pre-Commissioning Unit Makin Island during a tactical air and navigation system test. The test, one of hundreds conducted on command, control, computers, communications, combat and intelligence department equipment, is part of an underway five-day Builder's Trial to test the ship at sea. Makin Island, scheduled for commissioning Oct. 24 in San Diego, will be the Navy's eighth and final Wasp Class amphibious assault ship.
