MARINE CORPS TRAINING AREA BELLOWS, Hawaii – An Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) Raven drone lays on the ground shortly before being launched into the air to provide overwatch of friendly forces as well as conduct surveillance on enemy forces at Marine Corps Training Area Bellows, July 12, 2014, on the Hawaiian island of Oahu. The UAS is a lightweight drone made up of eight separate components and can fly up to a range of 10 kilometers while staying in the air for up to 90 minutes on one charge. The UAS, or Raven, is part of the Marine Corps' Advanced Warfighting Experiment, a culmination of progressive experiments designed to test potential future technologies, solutions and concepts to future Marine Air Ground Task Force challenges.
