Sailors, assigned to Mobile Diving and Salvage Unit (MDSU) 1, Company 1-5, prepare to retrieve a refueling hose aboard Military Sealift Command's (MSC) Rescue and Salvage ship USNS Safeguard (T-ARS 50) during a replenishment at sea with the MSC's Dry Cargo and Ammunition ship USNS Charles Drew (T-AKE 10). Safeguard and embarked MDSU 1 is underway between Cooperation Afloat Readiness and Training (CARAT) 2014 exercises. In its 20th year, CARAT is a bilateral exercise series between the U.S. and the armed forces of the nine partner nations in South and Southeast Asia.
