Military Sealift Command's (MSC) Rescue and Salvage ship USNS Safeguard (T-ARS 50) pulls alongside MSC's Dry Cargo and Ammunition ship USNS Charles Drew (T-AKE 10) during a replenishment at sea. Safeguard and embarked Mobile Diving and Salvage Unit (MDSU) 1 is underway between Cooperation Afloat Readiness and Training (CARAT) 2014 exercises. In its 20th year, CARAT is a bilateral exercise series between the United States and the armed forces of the nine partner nations in South and Southeast Asia.
