Sailors, assigned to Mobile Diving and Salvage Unit (MDSU) 1, Company 1-5, perform a drill with the ARS 50 Class Double-Lock Recompression Chamber aboard Military Sealift Command's (MSC) Rescue and Salvage ship USNS Safeguard (T-ARS 50). Safeguard and embarked MDSU 1 is underway between Cooperation Afloat Readiness and Training (CARAT) 2014 Exercises. In its 20th year, CARAT is an annual, bilateral exercise series with the U.S. Navy, U.S. Marine Corps and the armed forces of nine partner nations including Bangladesh, Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Timor-Leste.
