Col. Ronald Kapral, the commander of the 81st Brigade Combat Team, Washington Army National Guard, flies over Iraq in a Blackhawk helicopter Dec. 28, 2008 on his way to Balad. More than 3,000 members of the 81st BCT are deployed to various bases across Iraq, including Al-Asad, Q-West, Balad and Al-Taqaddum, in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. This is the second deployment for the 81st BCT.
