    II Marine Expeditionary Force

Retired Lt. Col. Patrick O’Bryan (left) shares his past stories with Brig. Gen. James Lukeman (right), the commanding general of 2nd Marine Division, and Sergeant Maj. Bryan Zickefoose (middle), the sergeant major of 2nd Marine Division, in the commanding general’s room aboard Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, N.C., June 13, 2014. O’Bryan was assigned to Headquarters Battalion, 2nd Marine Division, from 1973-1974 where he served as the battalion color guard sergeant. When he left, the unit his staff non-commissioned officers gave him a 2nd Marine Division flag, marked for disposal, to safeguard. For the last forty years O’Bryan has looked after the flag until recently when he returned it to 2nd Marine Division. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Cpl. Austin Long)
