Albanian Minister of Defense, Mimi Kodheli, greets Lt. Col. Vincent Dawson, lead exercise planner, U.S. Marine Forces Europe and Africa, and Maj. Douglas Bahrns, operations officer of Black Sea Rotational Force 14 from 3rd Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment before a briefing from the staff of exercise Agile Spirit 14. The staff of the fourth iteration of Agile Spirit briefed U.S. Ambassador Richard B. Norland along with the Albanian Minister of Defense, Mimi Kodheli; the Georgian Minister of Defense, Irakli Alasania; and Maj. Gen. Vakhtang Kapanoze, Chief of General Staff of the Georgian Armed Forces. Agile Spirit maintains and strengthens the partnerships between the U.S. and Georgian Armed Forces, demonstrating their commitment toward collective, regional and global stability. The exercise will run until June 21 and will include brigade and battalion-level training engagements, to include live-fire ranges, security-search operations, basic-infantry skills, peacekeeping operations, and bilateral command-level drills that will foster more profound interoperability between the two militaries.
