U.S. Ambassador Richard B. Norland bids farewell to Col. Ryan Heritage, commanding officer of 6th Marine Regiment, after his visit to the staff of exercise Agile Spirit 14 at Vaziani Training Area, Georgia, June 11. The staff of the fourth iteration of Agile Spirit briefed the U.S. Ambassador along with the Albanian Minister of Defense, Mimi Kodheli; the Georgian Minister of Defense, Irakli Alasania; and Maj. Gen. Vakhtang Kapanoze, Chief of General Staff of the Georgian Armed Forces. Exercises like Agile Spirit maintain and strengthen the partnerships between the U.S. and Georgian Armed Forces, demonstrating their commitment toward collective, regional and global stability. The exercise will run until June 21 and will include brigade and battalion-level training engagements, to include live-fire ranges, security-search operations, basic-infantry skills, peacekeeping operations, and bilateral command-level drills that will foster more profound interoperability between the two militaries.
