U.S. Coast Guard Lt. Andrew Somplasky, maritime law enforcement track lead, Coast Guard Atlantic out of Portsmouth, Va., debriefs a five-man team of maritime law enforcement members from 10 Caribbean nations here on June 7. Somplasky provided feedback to the team after they performed a boarding procedure on a suspected drug trafficking ship as part of Tradewinds 2014. Tradewinds is a joint, combined, exercise conducted in conjunction with partner nations to enhance the collective abilities of defense forces and constabularies to counter transnational organized crime and to conduct humanitarian/disaster relief operations.
