Paratroopers with the 1st Squadron, 40th Cavalry Regiment, 4th Infantry Brigade Combat Team (Airborne), 25th Infantry Division, work to setup a VRC 90 radio during the unit’s “Spur Ride” May 27, 2014 at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska. The paratroopers completed the spur ride to earn the highly coveted “Silver Spurs.” The spurs are earned by Cavalry unit Soldiers who complete rigorous physical and mental tests based on Cavalry tasks, history, and tradition.
