Lt. Col. Kareem Qasim Muhammed, operations officer for the 3rd Battalion, 7th Brigade, 2nd National Police Division, cross-checks identification of an Abna al-Iraq, or Sons of Iraq, member during monthly payday activities, Dec. 16, at NP battalion headquarters in the Masafee community of southern Baghdad's Rashid District. Soldiers from Company A, 2nd Battalion, 4th Infantry Regiment, attached to the 1st Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, Multi-National Division - Baghdad, provided over watch and settled issues between the two parties during the payday. The government of Iraq assumed complete control of the SoI in October, paying a monthly stipend equivalent to 300 U.S. dollars.
