Sailors with 1st Medical Battalion, 1st Marine Logistics Group, stabilize a notional casualty as part of a mass casualty drill during Exercise Desert Scimitar 2014 aboard Marine Air Ground Combat Center Twentynine Palms, Calif., May 13, 2014. Desert Scimitar is an annual Marine Expeditionary Force level exercise conducted by 1st Marine Division, 3rd Marine Air Wing and 1st Marine Logistics Group. The realistic live-fire training allows 1st Marine Logistics Group to meet current and future real-world operational demands of providing tactical-level logistics support above the capabilities of other elements of the MEF. One of those operational demands requires the use of a shock trauma platoon, which is responsible for providing immediate combat trauma care to service members and non-combatants.
