The USS Essex sails through the ocean off the California coast during field carrier landing practices with Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron (VMM) 161, May 15. VMM-161 provided two MV-22B Ospreys to help maintain pilots’ landing qualifications, all the while helping the Essex’s crew earn new qualifications.
