    Wreath laying ceremony

Cmdr. Joseph Torres Jr., commanding officer of the Arleigh-burke class guided-missile destroyer USS Mustin (DDG 89) receives a wreath from a Japanese girl to be placed on the headstone of one of five U.S. Sailors and Marines, who died in the service of Commodore Matthew C. Perry after his ship first arrived in Shimoda in 1854, during a ceremony in the Gyokusenji cemetery. Sailors from various commands including the two Arleigh-burke class guided missile destroyers USS John S. McCain (DDG 56) and Mustin visited Shimoda to join the city in celebrating the 75th annual Black Ship Festival. (U.S. Navy photo by Mass Communication Specialist 1st Class Trevor Welsh/Released)
