Karen Christy pins the Georgia Meritorious Service Medal on Sgt. Ryan Leone for saving her life Memorial Day Weekend 2013. The award citation read: For exceptionally meritorious service on May 25, 2013, while assisting in the rescue of a woman’s life, Sgt. Ryan Leone went far beyond what was expected to render assistance and prevent a possible drowning. His timely actions to keep a boater from drowning and provide medical assistance for her injuries greatly increased her survival and recovery. His commendable actions are in keeping with the finest traditions of military service and reflects credit upon himself, 1-185th Assault Helicopter Battalion, and the Georgia Army National Guard.
