Casey Trees, a nonprofit community-based environmental organization that partnered with Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling, planted 100 trees to increase tree canopy coverage in Washington, each with a self-adjusting shield around the base of the trunk to protect it from landscaper's equipment that can damage bark and threaten the life of a tree.
