Lt. j.g. Matthew Cruser gets in the ready position to heave a mooring line aboard the littoral combat shp USS Freedom as the ship transits up the St. Lawrence River. Freedom is the first of two littoral combat ships designed to operate in shallow water environments to counter threats in coastal regions and is currently en route to Norfolk, Va.
