U.S. Marine Corps Sgt. James Ratliff, Battalion Landing Team 1st Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment, 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), corporals course instructor and native of Jemison, Ala., teaches tactical communication to Marines during a corporals course aboard the USS Mesa Verde (LPD 19). Corporals Course Class 1-14 is a three-week course focused on providing the skills necessary to lead Marines, and is designed to provide the war fighting skills, core values and mindset necessary for effective leadership of a team and subordinate Marines. The 22nd MEU is deployed with the Bataan Amphibious Ready Group as a theater reserve and crisis response force throughout U.S. Central Command and the U.S. 5th Fleet area of responsibility.
