Capt. Fernandez "Frank" Ponds, mission commander for Continuing Promise 2008, and Sicada Amandis A. Gueros de Gonzalez, director of Socorro Sanchez Primary School, cut a ribbon to officially recognize the accomplishments of several engineering projects within the school. The amphibious assault ship USS Kearsarge is the primary platform for the Caribbean phase of Continuing Promise, an equal-partnership mission involving the United States, Canada, the Netherlands, Brazil, France, Nicaragua, Colombia, Dominican Republic, Trinidad and Tobago and Guyana.
