Sailors on the USNS Mendonca (T-AKR-303) observes the mooring of the USAV Monterrey (LCU 2030), while the USAV Scholarie (ST-905) maneuvers to stabilize the procedure, near the Port of Anchorage, Alaska, April 3, 2014. The JLOTS exercise coincides with the 50th anniversary of the magnitude 9.2 Good Friday Earthquake that struck Alaska March 27, 1964 and Alaska Shield 14 is designed to test the ability of local, state and federal response agencies to respond to the same disaster using modern equipment and techniques.
