A U.S. Marine shovels through dirt after being alerted by metal detectors during a search for evidence of material used in improvised explosive device manufacturing. Iraqi police in Karmah, Iraq, conducted a raid in search of IED manufacturers in their area of operation, Oct. 4, 2008. Marines with Weapons Company, 1st Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment, Regimental Combat Team 1, provided support.
