Cmdr. Joel Newman, rabbi, explains a little bit about a Torah to two Sailors in the chapel on board the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan, during a introduction class to the Jewish religious holiday of Yom Kippur that was held prior to a brief Yom Kippur service. The Torah was hand written about 200 years ago and contains the first five books of the Bible. Ronald Reagan is currently deployed to the 5th Fleet/NAVCENT area of responsibility. Operations in the NAVCENT area of operations are focused on reassuring regional partners of the United States' commitment to security, which promotes stability and global prosperity.
