Amphibious assault vehicles deploy smokescreens before reaching the shoreline during a rehearsal of the amphibious landing portion of Ssang Yong 2014 at Doksoek-ri in Pohang, Republic of Korea. The scale of Ssang Yong proves the Marine Corps’ ability to conduct the full spectrum of amphibious landing operations in cooperation with international partners. This exercise is an annual bilateral exercise conducted by ROK and U.S. Marines in order to strengthen interoperability and working relationships across the range of military operations — from disaster relief to complex, expeditionary operations.
