Jake Ryan, an officer candidate currently attending the University of Memphis, traverses through the obstacle course during the three-day Mini-Officer Candidates School course here, March 22, 2014. The obstacle course was just one event throughout the three-day course that tested the candidates overall physical fitness, determination and endurance. Ryan was one of the more than 400 officer candidates from across the Southeastern United States that participates in a three-day Mini-Officer Candidates Course here. Many of the officer candidates that attended the course here will attend the real OCS in Quantico, Va., where they will endure ten weeks of grueling training and evaluation to determine their fitness to lead Marines as Marine officers.
