Recruits of Delta Company, 1st Recruit Training Battalion, prepare for their first written test on Marine Corps history, traditions and policies March 10, 2014, on Parris Island, S.C. The recruits gathered inside a classroom to take a 100-question test on the Marine Corps facts and regulations they learned over the previous four weeks. It is paramount that recruits know and understand the Corps’ regulations and rich history so they can make the right decisions in their future careers and follow in the honorable footsteps of their predecessors. Delta Company is scheduled to graduate May 2, 2014. Parris Island has been the site of Marine Corps recruit training since Nov. 1, 1915. Today, approximately 20,000 recruits come to Parris Island annually for the chance to become United States Marines by enduring 13 weeks of rigorous, transformative training.
