Lance Cpl. Samuel G. Hale, a tank gunner with 2nd Tank Battalion, 2nd Marine Division, from Belton, S.C., directs an M1A1 Abrams Main Battle Tank driver onto a railcar before chaining the tank down for transport from Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, N.C., to Fort Pickett, Va., March 18, 2014. Marines successfully loaded the 12 foot wide tanks onto the approximately 11 foot wide railcars despite the winds, rain and mud. The battalion is heading to Virginia for one month to complete field training. More than 350 Marines and sailors will be taking part in the training as well as a total of 22 tanks and four M88A2 Hercules Recovery Vehicles.
