Freshmen and upper class Naval Reserve Officers' Training Corps (NROTC) midshipmen along with unit staff members run past historic Building 1 on Naval Station Great Lakes Aug. 15. The group from Chicago universities and colleges make up the Chicago Consortium. They were on Recruit Training Command (RTC) and Naval Station Great Lakes for their annual 10-day freshmen orientation, Aug. 10-17. The Chicago Consortium is made up of midshipmen from Northwestern University, University of Illinois in Chicago, Illinois Institute of Technology and Loyola University. Naval Service Training Command (NSTC), headquartered in Building 1 at Naval Station Great Lakes, oversees 98 percent of initial officer and enlisted accessions training for the Navy.
