James Riddle (left), of the U.S. Army Food Services, talks with Master Sgt. James Moore, the Philip A. Connelly program manager and evaluator with the Joint Culinary Center of Excellence, March 4 during the evaluation of the 3rd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division's Gibson Dining Facility. Soldiers in the 3rd ABCT competed for top honors during the 46th Annual Philip A. Connelly Competition. "The [Connelly Competition] promotes excellence in food service and teaches soldiers to take pride in what they do," said Moore, of Hannibal, Mo. "The soldiers here are motivated - really motivated - they have good teamwork and a lot of cohesion. It's been great to see them work." "To be in the top six DFACs, out of 189 Army-wide ... to reach this level, you're already a winner," Riddle said. The JCCOE evaluators will grade five other DFACs in Hawaii, Washington, Texas, Germany and Korea, before announcing the winners sometime in May.
