Pfc. Erin Grady, a medic, grimaces as she lifts a casualty into an armored Hummer. Grady is one of three medics in the platoon responsible for diagnosing the wounded so other Soldiers can initiate treatment and providing advanced medical aid after the casualties have been moved to a secure area. The casualty in the photo is a real-life amputee hired to act as a combat casualty.
