Craig Gross, the father of Fallen Soldier Cpl. Frank R. Gross, killed in action in Afghanistan, takes a moment to write a letter in his son’s memory during Operation Love Letters, Feb. 23. Survivor Outreach Services, an Army program, hosted Operation Love Letters to bring together family members of fallen soldiers from recent wars. During the event, family members took a moment to introduce their fallen soldier to one other, write a special letter to their fallen hero, and later attach it to a balloon to be released into the sky.
