U.S. Marine Corps Sgt. Ricky Williams Jr., an operations clerk for Marine Corps Recruiting Station Phoenix, stands atop the more than 2,600-foot summit of Piestewa Peak in Phoenix, Feb. 4, 2014. Williams and several other R.S. Phoenix Marines were accompanied on the hike by Brig. Gen. James W. Bierman Jr. and Sgt. Maj. James K. Porterfield, commanding general and sergeant major, respectively, of Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego and the Western Recruiting Region. Bierman and Porterfield visited command staff and multiple R.S. Phoenix recruiting sub-stations during their two-day visit. “What an amazing capstone to this visit,” Bierman said regarding the hike. “This was certainly a recruiting station where as soon as you walked through the door you got a sense of a very close knit, focused, and proud group of Marines doing the job the right way.” (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Sgt.
