“Dr. Martin Luther King's speech symbolizes a changing of the guard. During the time of the speech there was strife across the country marred by racial tensions brought on through the discussion of civil rights. It was very brave of him to come forward and challenge people across [America] to open their hearts and recognize that all people are indeed created equal. His speech’s ideas forever changed our country for the better. We must not forget the freedoms that are afforded to us on a daily bases that were once not given to everyone,” said U.S. Army Pfc. Zachary Mauldin, Headquarters Company, 4th Brigade Special Troops Battalion, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division. (U.S. Army Photo by Sgt.
