The Military Sealift Command joint high-speed vessel USNS Spearhead (JHSV 1), the Navy's first joint high-speed vessel, gets underway for its maiden deployment from Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek-Fort Story. Spearhead will deploy to the U.S. European Command and U.S. Africa Command areas of responsibility to conduct planned experimentation testing the ship's capabilities, and work with regional navies, supporting the U.S. commitment to presence and
