A Marine slides down a rope suspended 30 feet above the ground from a CH-53E Super Stallion helicopter Jan. 8 at Camp Hansen. The rope was suspended from a CH-53E Super Stallion in a precision hover. The Marine was taking part in fast-rope training, where more than 100 Marines familiarized themselves with the essential technique. The Marines are with 2nd Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, currently assigned to the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, III Marine Expeditionary Force. The helicopter and crew are with Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron 463, currently assigned to Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 265 (Reinforced), 31st MEU, III MEF, both part of the unit deployment program.
