Sailors assigned to the weapons department on board the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan fire 40mm cannons on a catwalk during a saluting battery practice. The 40mm saluting battery is used during change of command ceremonies as well as to honor higher ranking officials and heads of state. Ronald Reagan is currently deployed to the 5th Fleet/NAVCENT area of responsibility. Operations in the NAVCENT area of operations are focused on reassuring regional partners of the United States' commitment to security, which promotes stability and global prosperity.
