During the visit, Welsh applauded the 153rd Airlift Wing's role in hosting the Air National Guard's first active duty associate unit, the 30th Airlift Squadron, as well as their contributions to ongoing firefighting efforts. He spoke about the important role each component plays in enabling airpower for the nation, while also addressing key issues affecting the service -- like sequestration, furlough and sexual assault prevention response efforts.
