Stanford, Calif. (May 6, 2006)--Coast Guard Academy rugby players 1/c Jared Cherni, club team captain; 2/c Drew Somplasky; and 4/c Kevin Carmichael proudly show the team's championship trophy and banner after capturing the Men's Division II national title on Saturday at Stanford University. The Bears defeated top-seeded and defending national champion Northern Colorado 17-12 in northern California. It was the team's third consecutive trip to the tournament and first national title.
