Petty Officer 2nd Class Roland Asante, a machinery technician from Station Honolulu, teaches a group of Sea Scouts about the P6 pump during a Safety at Sea Weekend at Coast Guard Base Honolulu Saturday, October 20, 2012, in Hawaii.
Sea Scouts are a group of young adults who train to become community leaders through a program with a nautical emphasis. Approximately 38 scouts from several Sea Scout ships based out of Kauai, Oahu and the Big Island attended the event. The purpose of the event is to provide Sea Scouts and their leaders with an opportunity to receive instruction and hands-on experience in a variety of boating safety skills and equipment that is generally unavailable to them.
