LONG ISLAND SOUND - Coast Guard Capt. Raymond "Wes" Pulver, commanding officer of the Coast Guard Barque Eagle, holds a ceremony aboard the tall ship in Long Island Sound near Riverhead, N.Y., Sept. 16, 2012, to commemorate a battle involving crewmembers from the Revenue Cutter Eagle nearly two centuries ago in the same location. Crewmembers from the Revenue Cutter Eagle, the third ship to bear the name, fought off a British warship in October of 1814 for two days by intentionally beaching the Eagle at Friar's Head and dragging the ship's cannons to shore.
