Multi-National Forces - Iraq Commander Gen. David Petraeus, presents Sgt. Maj. Ronald Smiley, operations sergeant major from Lake Village, Ark., 1st Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, Multi-National Division - Baghdad, with a coin, Aug. 30, 2008, at the brigade headquarters building located on Forward Operating Base Falcon, Baghdad. Petraeus began the event by breaking formation and offering every Soldier who has deployed for more than 24 months in support of the Global War on Terrorism an MNF-I Commanding General Coin. Petraeus also recognized 20 Soldiers and leaders of the 1st, 'Raider' BCT for their many accomplishments while deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. The coalition forces commanding general in Iraq applauded the accomplishments of the 'Raider' Brigade's Soldiers, working to provide stability and security by preventing sectarian violence and terrorism for the 1.6 million citizens of the Rashid District.
