Both Lai and Lawry are assigned to the Military Sealift Command hospital ship USNS Mercy. Mercy is the primary platform for Pacific Partnership, a four-month humanitarian mission providing engineering, civic, medical and dental assistance to Southeast Asia and Oceania.
