ORANGE BEACH, Ala. -- Margarita Gurri, Ph.D., interacts with her audience during her presentation on transitioning from the war zone to life at home at a Yellow Ribbon Program event for Coast Guard Port Security Unit 308, Aug. 13, 2011. The Yellow Ribbon Program is a Department of Defense effort that helps National Guard and Reserve servicemembers and their families connect with local resources before, during and after deployments, especially during the reintegration phase that occurs months after servicemembers return home. The Department of Defense works in conjunction with federal partners, including the Small Business Administration and Departments of Labor and Veterans Affairs, to provide up-to-date and relevant information to the members of the all-volunteer force and their families.
